Mortgage Loan Officer

The Mortgage Loan Officer sells and originates residential mortgage loans. This position takes residential mortgage loan applications AND offers or negotiates terms of residential mortgage loans for compensation or gain. Employee must maintain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).

Description

The Mortgage Loan Officer sells and originates residential mortgage loans. This position takes residential mortgage loan applications AND offers or negotiates terms of residential mortgage loans for compensation or gain. Employee must maintain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).

Job Requirements

  • Meets with Prospects identified directly as well as referred by realtors, developers, attorneys and other external and internal referral sources
  • Explains variety of mortgage products and services available and offers recommendations based on evaluation of individual prospect needs
  • Guides Customers through the mortgage application process. Explains information required and other aspects of the loan process to Customers
  • Ensures applications are completed accurately and contain required information and supporting documentation
  • Manages Customers’ expectations regarding processing times and closing dates
  • Sells and originates residential mortgage loans according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Generates referrals for mortgage sales opportunities and sales of other Company business line products
  • Develops plan to achieve sales goals with assistance from sales management
  • Creates supporting files with backup and explanatory documentation and information for underwriting, regulatory and other purposes.
  • Sends application and other required information to underwriting area
  • Communicates loan decisions directly to Customers and explains any additional information needed.
  • Submits application materials and other required information to processing area to clear any conditions, finalize the loan commitment, and prepare for closing
  • Communicates regularly with Customers, underwriters, processors, realtors, closing agents and others to ensure application process proceeds as planned.
  • Attends closings as needed

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or progressive related work experience in addition to experience below- recent grads welcome
  • Proven Sales ability
  • Developing knowledge of mortgage industry, products, lending practices and regulatory guidelines
  • Maintains the highest level of sales ability and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial, Self-directed, with developing ability to plan own activities to achieve sales goals
  • Good time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • PC skills, including ability to learn mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems

Underwriter

As an underwriter, you will be responsible to adhere to DU & LP Findings to underwrite the loan. You will be responsible for assessing any risk, and requesting documentation to support the file in any way needed.

At Jersey Mortgage Company, we underwrite all of our files in-house. As an underwriter, you will be responsible to adhere to DU & LP Findings to underwrite the loan. You will be responsible for assessing any risk, and requesting documentation to support the file in any way needed.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite loans based on agency guidelines (FHA, HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac)
  • Review and verify loan applications and supporting documentation
  • Analyze loan risk and request additional information as needed
  • Make loan eligibility decisions by either approving or rejecting applications
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, agency guidelines, and company policies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Emphasis on working in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong data analysis skills
  • Solid foundation of mortgage industry, loan process, and rules and regulation
  • Experience with USDA and FHA/VA direct endorsement
  • Proficiency in Office365 and AUS
  • Experience with LQB a plus!

Processor

As a loan processor at Jersey Mortgage Company, you will work closely with the underwriter, loan officer, and borrower to collect and prepare all documentation needed to get the file approved and closed. A processor is one of the most critical roles of the homebuying process, as this person acts as the liaison between the borrower and underwriter.

As a loan processor at Jersey Mortgage Company, you will work closely with the underwriter, loan officer, and borrower to collect and prepare all documentation needed to get the file approved and closed.

A processor is one of the most critical roles of the homebuying process, as this person acts as the liaison between the borrower and underwriter. Some of the responsibilities and requirements are outlined below:

Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare all documentation for the loan package
  • Follow up with the client as needed to verify information
  • Submit files to the designated underwriter
  • Work with the borrower and loan officer to clear any outstanding conditions prior to submitting the package to the closing department.

Requirements

  • Although not required, a minimum 3 years of experience as a processor for all loan types: Conventional, USDA, FHA, and VA is strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of the loan process, rules, and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Emphasis on working in a team environment
  • Solid understanding of DU/LP/GUS AUS systems and Microsoft Office (experience with LendingQB a plus!)
  • Ability to multitask and handle pressure
  • Maintain organization and attention to detail throughout all files
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus!

Closer

Can you manage pressure and hit deadlines? Are you able to think quickly on your feet? Do you strive for accuracy? The closer brings the file to the finish line in a timely and organized manner. The final eyes on the file prior to closing, the closer is responsible for ensuring that all information is accurate, and that the file closes when the contract states.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the closing loan package necessary for individual loan types in accordance with Jersey Mortgage Company and investor guidelines, as well as secondary marketing commitments and requirements.
  • Ensures timely issuance of closing disclosures, file movement and closing of approved loans through the pipeline
  • Coordinate with title companies, attorneys, loan officers, processors, and insurance companies to obtain documentation necessary to close
  • Maintain consistent and clear communication of an
  • Review all preliminary documents provided by the attorney and title company to include, but not limited to: Title binder, survey, termite report, hazard/flood insurance binder, deed, Closing Disclosure, Power of Attorney and/or Trust Documentation
  • Complete all disbursement procedures for issuance of funds to attorney/title company, any necessary refund checks, and release escrow monies held.

Requirements

  • Although not required, a minimum 3 years of experience as a closer for all loan types: Conventional, FHA, and VA is preferred
